So is it possible to create a tasty barbeque sauce without sugar? When checking recipes, make sure that it doesn't have ketchup in it. Ketchup is loaded with sugar, so that barbeque sauce recipe would not be very sugar-free!

Here are two recipes to try. The first one uses natural sugars.

Sugar-Free Barbeque Sauce Recipe #1

1 onion finely chopped

1 tablespoon water

1 can of chopped tomatoes

1 tablespoon of tomato puree

3 tablespoons of cider vinegar

3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

pinch of chili powder

pinch of cinnamon

pinch of paprika

salt and pepper all to taste.

Put the onions in a non stick pan with just a little bit of water (maybe 1 tbsp.). Cook the onions very gently for 1-2 hours, just until the onion starts to brown. Don't let the onions burn--we are trying to caramelize the onion to bring out its natural sugars. This is the ingredient that adds the sweetness to the tomato barbeque sauce.

The second recipe uses an artificial sweetener from a diet soft drink.

Sugar-Free Barbeque Sauce Recipe #2

1 tablespoon dried onion flakes

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon onion salt

1 teaspoon crushed garlic

A pinch of cayenne pepper

4 tablespoons tomato puree

1 cup sugar-free cola

Simply mix these ingredients together. The sweetness comes from the diet-cola.

See what you think and let me know. Both of these recipes are great tasting. Use them as the basis for creating your own sugar-free barbeque sauce recipe.
By the way, sssshhhh, don't tell anyone about the top secret barbecue sauce recipe.

Barbeque Sauce Recipe from the Tropics

This tropical barbeque sauce recipe works great with chicken and pork. You can even use it with hamburger. If you are cooking chicken or pork, marinate the meat overnight in the sauce. If you are cooking hamburgers, just brush it on and put them on the grill. You make make this barbeque sauce ahead of time and put it in your refrigerator.

Make sure to put chicken or pork chops in a flat glass dish to marinate because of the acid in the lemon. Cover these with this barbecue sauce and let sit overnight in your refrigerator.

This recipe is for eight large breasts of chicken or eight thick pork chops or eight thick spareribs.

Mix these ingredients in glass bowl:
1 fresh lemon squeezed
1 cup of ketchup
1 cup of blackstrap molasses
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 orange squeezed (any kind)
1 pinch of garlic salt
1 teaspoon of pineapple juice either from can of pineapple or from can juice or from fresh pineapple

You may want to use the leftover pineapple on top of your pork or chicken. If you are making hamburgers make smaller quantities of the sauce. Take it with you and brush your hamburgers with the sauce at your picnic.

Brush the sauce on both sides of your meat and then put in refrigerator. Refrigerate any leftover sauce.

Doesn't this sauce sound great!
